A individual charged with harassing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a voicemail message which questioned: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has consistently declared she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial charged with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the tribunal was told phone records and data recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly requesting Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a trip in Portugal - is one of the most covered child disappearance cases and remains open.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

Another recorded message, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I feel what I believe."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "What if there is a small chance that I'm her? What happens next? Wouldn't that be important for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I just want to understand," the recording stated.

The jury was told that through emails, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, sent early photographs to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.

The investigator, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who gathered the evidence, advised the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally contacted acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the communication logs.

On that date, Gerry McCann answered a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."

That day Ms Wandelt deposited a recording on Mrs McCann's recording declaring "I will continue and I plan to establish my claim."

The court heard Mrs Spragg developed a connection through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' property in Leicestershire in that winter.

Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated using messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the months leading up to the appearance to the village, Leicestershire, in that winter.

The court was told communications between the two individuals, in last November, considering attempting to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her trash or from utensils at a restaurant.
